Magnificent fortress in the Salzachtal

The wealthy Archbishops of Salzburg built this imposing castle in Werfen to protect the city against enemies. Hohenwerfen castle dates back to the 11th century is open to visitors and offers a guided tour which takes in numerous special exhibitions, weapons museum and the newly renovated Princes' rooms. One special attraction is the bird of prey show in the Landesfalknerhof.
